I'm blogging from there right now. This might be it for my blogging from sturgis. Its been a great trip so far but I'm ready to go home.

We went down and paid for our brick in the street and then headed out to full throttle saloon to see jackyl because its free & its our last night

We went back into town and I got the last porky's of the trip. We saw dog, cat, mouse guy on the street and I gave him some money.

We then went over to the hill climbs and watched that. They had some bikes with more than one engine and 280 horsepower.

We went to get tickets for the zztop show but they were $63 so we decided to skip that.

Then something really cool happened.

I GOT TO RIDE A MOTORCYCLE WITH A V8 ENGINE!!!!!!!!!

WOW!!!!!

After that we went to the rats hole custom bike show. We got to meet the guys that created the time machine bike I saw in town yesterday.

We got to talk with him for about an hour and he bought us lunch. He seems like a nice guy and we have a lot in common.

We finally hooked up with cathy's friend joe glick today. We rode out to cheyenne crossing where he is staying.

Ok now it looks like some of the stuff got posted twice. Not sure what's causing that.

I blogged some other stuff buts its not showing up.

If you are ever in Sturgis and see a brick that says:

Smilin Mike &
Skooter Dave
Bros Forever

You'll know whose it is

You can buy a brick inscribed with 3 lines of text which will be placed in the sidewalk somewhere in Sturgis. We are going to split one.

Hill climb, rats hole custom bike show and zztop concert.

Tomorrow is our last day here, so the pilgrimage is drawing to a close. We have 3 things on the agenda

I talked to the guy who made it and he said that he's been riding it since 1981.

Then we went and ate at porky's and walked around some more. We got to see the star trike. Its a bike that looks like the ship from star trek.

Then we went and ate at porky's and walked around some more. We got to see the star trike. Its a bike that looks like the ship from star trek.

Then I saw a cool chopper for sale $24000. The salesman was very persuasive... Don't worry I didn't buy it.

So I bought some and cathy will have a good time using it since she so kindly volunteered to clean my bike when I get back.

I asked if their product would clean up a rusty bike & they said yes. They even went out to the parking lot & cleaned part of my bike to prove it

We went over to the convention center and david talked to the hemi head people and I talked to the metal polish people.

But he wasn't there. We took a side trip to see Roughlock Falls down this dirt road and it was cool. Then we ended up back in Sturgis.

Then we rode around the Bear Lodge mountains and through Spearfish Canyon. We went by cheyenne crossing where cathy's friend was staying.

There are a bunch of huge boulders all around the base that have fallen off. He said that it has been 10000 years since any of the big ones fell.

We ran across a park ranger & talked with him awhile. He trained people how to climb up the tower.

Today david & I rode out to Devils Tower Wyoming. They have a trail around the base of it I had never taken before so we tried it.

Ok that's probably way too much information and I'm tired so that's it for now.

To top off a great day, Jean, the lady we are staying with made us some cupcakes and left them in the basement for us.

Then david and I went to the Jackpine Gypsies flat track races. The JPG are the motorcycle club that started the whole rally here in 1938.

Then I walked down the hill and rode my bike over to the drag races to meet david. The drag races were fun. I talked to one of the teams.

I went up a little further a said my prayer again but added the things the indian told me.

She said I should be humble in my prayers for such things and so I was. Before she left her daughter gave me a hug and kissed me on my chest.

I think she thought I was praying for a new motorcycle but I told her wasn't like that. I was praying for my family or the beginning of it anyway

When the woman and her daughter came down I told her I had come here to pray but didn't know how. She gave me some tips and some tobacco to offer

When the woman and her daughter came down I told her that I had come here to pray but I didn't

I walked a little further up the path and came upon some people. They said I should wait there because there was a woman's meeting going on.

I went a ways up the trail and sat down under a tree and said my prayer. Then I tied the bandana to the tree and put a little feather I found.

I started to walk up the butte but stopped when I saw a prayer flag tied to tree limb. I went back to my bike and found a hd bandana I could use.

I stopped in the visitor center and bought a book about the language of the Lakota Souix. The native people of the region.

I rode back into town and out to a place the indians consider holy. Its called Bear Butte and its just few miles outside of Sturgis.

I meditated on this prayer for a while and ended up feeling pretty good. I picked up a pinecone to remember this place by.

Oh great spirit of my fathers, help me to wholely void my heart of fear. Oh god of my people and my soul, help me to be a man.

I broke out my Gospel of the Redman and started to read. It has some really interesting things in it, and I focused in on some indian prayers.

I stopped in Nemo at the VFD all you can eat breakfast and proceeded to a little park next to a small creek. It was very peaceful.

I started the day by taking a short ride on a nice stretch of highway through vanocker canyon to get myself into a spiritual state of mind.

I'm going to put some of the indians advice to work tomorrow.

I didn't have any porky's today, but I did have some buffalo stew.

It was pretty cool and included a 20 minute video and then everyone sang the national anthem as they slowly cranked up the lights.

To get our monies worth out of our rushmore parking pass, we decided to go back and watch the lighting ceremony.

When they drug it off 2 of the adults followed them off. It made me wonder how paternal these animals are.

Then it became apparent, one of the calves had died. They had to put their truck in between it and the herd to be able to get close to it.

One sad note, while we were watching the buffalo a couple park rangers came in a truck and drove towards the herd. We were wondering why.

During the custer state park ride we got to see a couple herd of buffalo roaming free. And some deer and mules and turkeys.

After we left Rushmore we did some of my favorite rides out here. Iron mountain road, needles highway & custer state park.

There is an indian band playing music here. We are going to go listen to them now.

We just left Keystone earlier. I bought Cathy something cool, but she'll have to wait till I get back to find out what it is.

David and I are sitting here @ Mt Rushmore right now. Its a lot more crowded than last year. There are some cool birds flying around.

I forgot to mention last night that we saw a 6 speed v-twin powered blender called "Bad Idea".

Later we went out to the new Broken Spoke Saloon and saw a funny biker comedian & the Wall of Death stunt show.

I got some good advice from an indian.

We had lunch & "Free Ice Water" @ Wall Drug. I bought a book that teaches you how to play the Indian flute & one called The Gospel of the Redman

Today was very busy. We started off riding through the Badlands national park. The scenery was something else.

Justin might be interested to know that they are going to put a particle accelerator in the gold mine in Lead. Or so says a local we talked to.

There is also a cool motorcycle stunt show there that we are going to go back & see later during the trip.

It claims to be the world's largest Biker Bar. Its so big they had 3 bands going at the same time. We also saw Jesse James while there.

We ended our walk in front of porky's so we felt inclined to have dinner there. After that we headed out to Full Throttle Saloon.

We both lost 20 dollars playing the slot machines there. Then we went back into sturgis and looked around at some more of the vendors.

It stays a constant 49 degrees in the cave year round. We had a buffalo burger in custer then went into deadwood for a while.

Along the way we stopped @ Jewel Cave National Monument. We took the guided tour. It started w/ an elevator ride down into the cave.

Today turned out really great! We made a 150 mile loop through the black hills and part of Wyoming. The ride put me at peace with the world.

We also got to see Dog, Cat, Mouse. I'll have to try and send a picture of that. Its a mouse that sits on top of a cat that sits on top of a dog.

Tonight @ the Broken Spoke I saw my dream bike. I took a picture of it & will try & post it. There was a good band playing classic rock.

I had my first Porky's today. It was fantastic. My lovely wife snuck some money into my bag before I left and wrote For Porky's on it.

My phone is roaming now & I can only send Text messages of 160 character's. If I get a regular connection I'll post some photos or send them to C

We made it to Sturgis today. We met Jean whose basement we're staying in. She's a real nice lady. Her house has a view of one of the black hills.

Secret Home Renovation Project: Day 2

Well actually not much happened today on the homefront. I was at work until 7 or 8 or some insane hour for a Friday, but without my baby to take me out to eat I guess it was ok. I'm sure I made some type of Home Depot/Target run (yes I'm writing from the future again). By the time I got home I had just enough time to grab a bite, drink some wine and watch some manner of spy show - what else is there? Bed still not available for sleeping.

Secret Home Renovation Project: Day 1

When the cat's away the mice will play. Michael is on his way to Sturgis and so I'm free to do whatever I want in the house. Ha-ha-ha. The house looks pretty tore up right now. Moved some stuff out of a certain area and painted it. That took until 12:30 am. (Yes, I back dated this to synch up with it being 'day one.') Much fun.

Sturgis: Day 1
David & I drove to Garden City Kansas through about 5 hours of rain. I think we made the right decision to drive rather than ride
